Midnight Lute brings home Breeders Cup Sprint loot

It was all one-way traffic in the Breeders Cup Sprint where Midnight Lute, ridden by Garrett Gomez, took the loot with a devastating performance to win by five lengths.

It was trainer Bob Baffert's second visit to the winner's enclosure, after his victory with Indian Blessing in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies race. Baffert had landed the Sprint once before with Thirty Slews in 1992.

Idiot Proof, who was with the leaders all the way, claimed second with Talent Search third and Benny The Bull fourth.
