Breeders Cup Latest Red Rocks eyes Breeders Cup Turf repeat |
|
Frankie Dettori gets back aboard last year’s Breeders Cup Turf victor Red Rocks in a bid to repeat the victory. Red Rocks, trained by top UK handler Brian Meehan, has had a quiet preparation for Monmouth Park this time around. The hero of Churchill Downs has only won once since that victory – at Sandown in April. However he has been running well in defeat, notably when behind the subsequent Arc De Triomphe hero Dylan Thomas in the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown (Ireland). He tackles Dylan Thomas again at Monmouth Park and the Arc winner is sure to go off a strong favorite. Frankie Dettori could have a few plum rides at the Breeders Cup meeting. As well as Red Rocks in the Breeders Cup Turf, he is likely to be riding for his retained stable Godolphin. He has also picked up the ride on trainer Doug O’Neill’s Grace Anatomy in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies. Other UK raiders could include Michael Stoute’s Jeremy in the Breeders Cup Mile and Irish handle John Oxx would love to run Timarwa in the Filly and Mares Turf. However Timarwa, won won a Group 3 last month, is not sure to get into the race.
